Submissions
of poetry, short prose, visual art, and music are welcome from
Highland Community College students, alumni, faculty, staff, and all
residents
of the Highland
Community
College
district.
Submission deadline for the 2012 issue (to be published in May, 2012) is Friday, February 24, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. All submissions are reviewed for possible publication by an editorial board composed of students and volunteer community members. The editorial board is guided by team of faculty advisors. Please follow the guidelines below when preparing your submission. Poetry
and short prose: If submitting by e-mail, either enter the text directly into the body of your e-mail message, or attach a file from a commonly-used word processor such as Microsoft Word. Please avoid complex formatting, esoteric fonts, or other special features that may cause difficulty in opening or reading the file. If you are making multiple submissions, please separate them into individual attachments, or individual e-mail messages. Send your e-mail submissions to: sam.tucibat@highland.edu or bob.apolloni@highland.edu If submitting hardcopy, you may either send it to us through US mail, or drop off your submission in person. Hardcopy should be mailed to: Sam Tucibat If you'd like to drop off your hardcopy in person, please label it for the attention of Sam Tucibat or Bob Apolloni and bring it to the Humanities and Social Sciences Division office on the second floor of Building M at Highland's main campus. Hardcopy submissions are returned only if accompanied by a stamped, self-addressed envelope. There is a limit of five pieces per year for each submitter. Visual
Art: If you submit the original piece, we recommend downloading this submission form and bringing it in with your work. We ask that you leave the piece with us long enough for it to be viewed by the editorial board and, if accepted for publication, to be photographed by our designers. This process can take several weeks. Art may be picked up after the magazine goes to press, usually during the last week of April. Other arrangements can be made by contacting prairie wind staff. your submission of original art to: (Note: Art accepted into the annual juried District Exhibit is automatically considered for publication in the Prairie Wind.) If you submit via e-mail or disk, please prepare the digital image of your work according to the following specifications before attaching it to your message or committing it to disk: File format:

drop off disk-based digital submissions to: Acceptable media: Data CD; Data DVD; USB key/thumb/flash drive. Please be sure to include on your disk a text file with the artist's name and titles of each file on the disk, or attach hardcopy containing that information to the disk.
